DrJart+ Rubber Mask Clear Skin Lover First Impression

Hey Loves!

A few blog posts ago, I had briefly share about my current skin condition if you haven't read that post, click here!

When I chanced upon this rubber mask, I knew for sure I wanted to try it out! Sheets masks are very travel friendly and hardly takes up much space in my beauty counter, the newer ones that have been floating around the internet are the rubber masks from Dr.Jart+

I took the opportunity during last month's Black Friday Sale over at Sephora to get myself one of Dr.Jart+ Rubber Mask Clear Lover, this is priced at SGD 18.00. I took advantage of the 15% discount.

I have a First Impressions Video of me trying out this mask on camera. If you're interested to see the full video, click here to watch it now!

Considering this rubber mask for it's one time use, I feel the price is steep as compared to other traditional tub masks like The Body Shop and Innisfree ones. I had high hopes on this mask for it's price tag, it better deliver it's claims.

The mask has a two step process. Step one is to empty out the ampoule pack that contains 5ml of it's potent purifying ingredients that are gently absorbed into the skin. This ampoule pack is claimed to be of pore clear complex with an effective mixed plant extract (green tea, grape, persimmon) that cleans and purifies pore to make the skin smooth.

Step two is to get the rubber mask out and carefully place the two sheets over the face and to keep it on for 30-40mins and to massage the remaining ampoule gently into the skin. The rubber mask is a clears and soothes while preventing the active ingredients from the ampoule pack from evaporating out. With the mask on, the pufirying ingredients are absorbed deep into the skin and cleanse the skin.

The rubber mask is said to contain marine moisturizing ingredients such as spirulina, kelp, sea lettuce, agar seaweed and sea mustard) that penetrates deep and keeping the skin moisturized.

My First Impressions

The instructions to correctly use the mask were easy to comprehend with illustrations on the back of the packaging. The ampoule pack was clearly indicated as Step 01.

The ampoule pack is a clear gel and almost jelly like to the touch and I started going to town with it. I made sure to cover my entire face and neck with the ampoule. It had a scent of a craft glue, I believe it's called pva glue. It felt and smelt just like that with a thinner consistency.

On camera, I did see a clear difference before and after applying the rubber sheet mask. That's exciting yet it's pretty much similar to trying out any other clay, pore clearing and refining masks in the market. Usually after cleansing the mask off, there will be a difference in the luminosity of the skin just like this rubber mask. There was no particular significant difference that would get me hooked to this rubber mask, though.

I have mentioned and I will say it again: for a one time use, this mask has a steep price tag. Will I get it again? Most probably not, only because there are plenty of masks that come in a variety of packaging and volume content that are reasonably priced.

However, this rubber mask was a lot of fun to try out and scare my kid whilst on my face. If you're curious to give this rubber mask, a go then go for it!

I hope you found this post useful and I will see you in my next blog post soon!

Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain Swatches and Review

It's Lipstick time!

You know how I feel about having lipsticks, I love how a small packaging can pack so much pigmentation coupled with happiness. It's color therapy in a bullet.

Today I am going to share my review on the Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain Set (Limited Edition 2017), it has four unique long lasting shade selection. This is tagged at SGD 24.00 on Sephora website, that makes SGD 6.00 per color. This set contains 01 Always Red, 42 Rosewood, 32 Nude Blush and 14 Blackberry Sorbet.

Each of the small packaging contains 1.3ml or 0.04 fl.oz., it may look very little but a little bit of this pigment goes a very long way. This line of Sephora's cream lip stains are very much similar to the liquid lipsticks in the market. It has a texture similar to NYX's soft matte lip creme, on a teeniest bit on the mousse-y side and long lasting like a liquid lipstick.

What is commendable is the range of lip shades offered are plentiful, this kit holds Sephora's some of best selling shades from this line. A peachy nude, a holiday red and berry with a neutral mauve-y shade. It has long lasting opacity in just one swipe and the formulation is very nourishing with avocado oil while keeping the color in place.

One of my favorite formulations in liquid lipsticks so far, I can't rave enough about this line of lipsticks. They make perfect Christmas gifts for the lipstick lovers in your life or even stocking fillers.

I hope this blog post serves to be useful to you and I shall catch you in my next blog post soon!

Makeup Look feat. Sephora Wonderful Stars Eyes and Face Palette

Hey Loves!

Today's blog post is on a makeup look featuring Sephora Collection Wonderful Stars Eye and Face Palette. This pallet retails for SGD 29.00 at Sephora.

With nine complementary eyeshadows, two blushes and a highlighter, you're getting a ton of value from this small packaging that is not only lightweight, travel friendly too. The packaging may appear a little too cute and kiddy makeup like but don't be fooled by it's cuteness. It has a decent amount (in terms of weight) of product that's complete with a mirror big enough to see exactly how you're getting along with the eye look, highlight and blush application.

This is a product that I gift myself for the last month of the year and have used the neutral shades to create this look. Face base, bronzer, contours and eyebrows have already been prepped before hand just to save time.

This eye and face palette is ideal for makeup beginners especially so as it contains two beautiful blush shades options and a neutral highlight that I see that could work across many different skin tones.

I already have a video up on my YouTube Channel, TheLeiaV with this Makeup Look. If you'd like to watch it, click below;

Neutral eye shadow looks are not only are easy, they are classic and timeless and work on most eye shapes. This classic shadows generally compliments most eye shapes and a multitude of complexions and undertones.

I definitely am liking this palette and would urge you to get it only if you'd like one for yourself or for your loved ones.

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and I shall catch you very soon, in my next entry soon!

Eye Look feat. UD Naked Smokey Eye Palette

Hey Loves!

I had hauled my recent Urban Decay Naked Smoky Eye Palette, a few blog posts ago. I had decided to create an eye look using the beautiful shades from this palette.

The cool tone shades in this palette are perfect for the blown smokey eye lovers out there and will come handy for the year end festivities, just around the corner.

I used the shade 'combust' for an overall wash of color from the lash line to the brow bone. Followed by the shade, 'password' to lightly define the fold above the crease to lay down a tiny bit of definition. I kept building up the color till I reach the intensity I was looking for and went back with a blending brush to defuse the rough edges.

With a stiff packing brush, I picked up the shade 'smolder' to place it on to the lid. Again, building up the color intensity. I used to same shade for my lower lash lines. After that, I picked up the shade 'armor' with my ring finger and place it on to the centers of the mobile lid for dimension.

To complete the look and smoke the look further, I picked up the shade 'black market' and placed it onto the crease directly. I used a stiff eye brush that fits into my eye socket and rocked the color back and forth in windshield wiper motions.

I took the shade 'combust' once again on a fluffy blending brush to smooth out the edges above the darker shades applied. With a art brush, I picked up the lightest shade in the palette called 'thirteen' for the brow bone highlight.

With the same art brush, I picked up the first shimmer shade from the right called 'high' for my inner corner highlight to complete the shadow look. I then applied a fairly thin liner and lightly winged it out with the NYX Matte Liquid Liner in Black and finished the look off with Essence I love Length Mascara.

For the lips, I opted for an oldie but a goodie; Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick in Buttercup and topped it with a tiny bit of gloss from Essence Shine Shine Shine Wet Look Lip gloss in Cute pink

Ten Benefits of the Minimalism Lifestyle

Hey Loves!

Today's blog post is going to be about an idea that I was slowly introduced to. It's none other than the Minimalism Lifestyle and I like how this has been working out for me. What's more is that this lifestyle has overall helped me in many ways. This is why, I am going to be listing my top ten benefits of living the Minimalism Lifestyle.

If you'd like to hear me talk about this topic more, then click the link below to watch the video on my YouTube Channel, TheLeiaV

Anyways, let's see the top ten benefits to this Minimalism Lifestyle!

 1. Clarity of Mind

When we have lesser to deal with, the more clarity we tend to retain in many aspects. It's nice to view the world without judgement and to assess what is around us just the way, they are. Our physical possessions are linked to our emotional and mental health, having too much and yet feeling empty may signal something.

2. Better Health

This minimalism lifestyle takes many shapes and forms and this can definitely be cultivated if you're interested in this way of living. Remember take one day at a time and try, perhaps you can scale back to see how busy your schedule is and try to take one day off just for yourself. You may also start clearing things away from your physical spaces such as your home and wardrobe and digital and personal spaces like your calendar and commitments.

3. More freedom

I believe this is self-explanatory, it's so ingrained into us that we have to fit into these molds set by our families and the society. Not anymore, especially if these habits are not contributing to better ourselves. Try saying 'yes' to the more important things, we can try to 'unlearn' and 'relearn' what's exactly are important things in our lives.

Being debt-free can be an amazing feeling as it just frees you emotionally and can actually lead you to your better well-being! How about that?

4. Lesser Stress

More reasons for us to look into what we really need vs what we really want. It's important to realize that we get our perspective into the big 'why' for owning the possessions that we love rather than meaningless reasons.

5. More time

Most of the benefits discussed are intertwined with one another and it's more of a cascading effect with the goodness of this lifestyle. Which I am open to liking, more time can allow me to do more of the things that I love like creating content for my YouTube Channel. Designing and refining my passion projects and idea conceptualization. Hence, more time on my hands.

6. Self confidence

Yes, indeed! It does! An unexpected aspect of living with just what you need frees up so many areas of our lives that confidence is heightened. Similar to the point discussed above, more time allows to plan better and it's a huge boost to our confidence.

7. Greater purpose

Our greater purpose is the big 'why' and can be great for us to set our intentions. It's not wish-y washy or indecisive instead it holds the intent with a strong foundation. You know exactly what you want, why you want and how you're planning to get there. Being crystal clear about the path ahead and the challenges identified just helps to condition our mind to be affirmative.

8. Extra Money

No doubt about this. The lesser we spend, we're bound to have more in our pocket. With lesser stuff, there is lesser clutter, lesser impulse buys and more money.

It really is that simple and ordinary. Have you discovered this?

9. Better Relationships

Unhealthy relationships can take up a lot of mental space in our heads and could cause confusion, frustration and an overall feeling of unhappiness.

Why would we want this upon us? Do yourselves a favor, free yourself from an unhappy relationship that you know deep down is hurting you and potentially cause you more harm.

10. Lifetime Memories

Like it says, pictures are priceless. My favorite kind of memory, I love the instances when I catch a whiff of something, a familiar taste, a hilarious moment, a soap scent that triggers memories. I cherish them and it's something that always comes back to me when I least expected.

Holidays and special occasions should be about the food, the company, the conversations and not just about the gifts or prized possessions.

If I want something very badly, I'll get it myself like gifting it to myself. I don't see why I would have to hint to someone else to get it for me. I should be able to reach for my happiness by myself.

This saves time and I don't have to 'expect' something from my loved ones. What I value most is my loved ones' support, encouragement and motivation. This lifestyle has definitely helped me free myself from the unwanted and unnecessary space, physical, digital and mental space.

How about you?

This entry might be a little bore for some of you yet I hope this has helped someone out there who has been wanting to try out the minimalist lifestyle. This can be catered to fit your needs, it's not about owning a certain amount of furniture, home decor or clothing articles. It's about simplifying what we need from what we want.

I shall catch you very soon in my next blog post, very soon!

Unwind with Me

Hey Loves!

A few were curious about my skincare routine. I thought I'll share how I remove my makeup at the end of the day with products that have worked for me.

I have a video version of this blog post where I share the chronological order of products used to remove my makeup and night time skincare routine.

Please do bear in mind or if you're someone new to my Blog and/or my YouTube Channel, I am of oily skin type and I tend to break out mostly around my chin and neck area. I have recently gone caffeine and dairy free for over four weeks now just to assess if it impacts my breakouts.

The new breakouts visible in this blog post and YouTube video are from that 'time of the month' and have another enlarged zit on my neck region. I have had a session with a skincare doctor and am following the prescription of topical creams. I shall keep you posted if it gets any better, I was told to have 'acne vulgaris'.

The products that make up my night time skin care routine are listed below;

  • Sephora Collection Triple Action Gentle Makeup Remover Gel
  • Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes
  • Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser
  • The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream
  • The Body Shop Drops of Light Pure Healthy Brightening Serum
  • Holland & Barrett Certified 99.9% Aloe Vera Gel

Remember acne or no acne, you have just the skin, body and hair hence love what you own and have.. Embrace it..

I hope you enjoyed this blog post and I shall catch you very soon in my next post.
