Dark Diva Dolls Hi-Def Liquid Foundation Review | TheLeiaV

Hey Guys,

I hope your start to the Summer Holidays are on track. If not, not worries.. There's a long way ahead of us.

Today's blog post is going to be a product review on a foundation from a local brand of cosmetics label in Singapore. More about this brand can be found on their official website at; http://www.darkdivadolls.com/home.html

Pricing

A full sized bottle of foundation is about 20ml and is priced at SGD 35.00. It comes in six different shades, the offered range of shades also have their matching shade of dual powder for a full-on maximum coverage.

Packaging

The foundation comes in a plastic tube with a pump to dispense the product (nice and sanitary) I like the simple clean and sleek black design with the frosty like exterior on the packaging. It makes it easy to gauge the shade match against the skin.

Claims

On their official site, the foundation is claimed to have lasting coverage to last throughout the day and the following;

  • Cruelty free
  • Allergy tested
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Non-comedogenic
  • Paraben and Fragrance free

First Impressions

I picked up the first shade C45, the lightest offered in their foundation range. The foundation had a regular consistency like any other liquid foundation. The product went on evenly and smooth on the skin. I felt that with one and a half pumps of this foundation gave me enough coverage before moving onto concealing my undereyes.

The foundation dried down to a natural skin-like finish like I had just smothered moisturizer on. If you're a matte finish fanatic, this can be easily fixed with loose or setting powder like their matching dual powder for added coverage.

I decided to do a wear test along with a first impressions video for my YouTube Channel, TheLeiaV

Click here to watch the full review on this foundation;

3 hour update

The foundation looked good, just like the initial application (medium to full coverage) I liked that it remained close to a natural skin like finish. Surprisingly, it looked good with three hours of wear even after blotting off the surface shine. Usually, at this point I would notice some separation of the foundation making it's way onto my oily t-zone and there was no cake like build up too!

6 hour update

The foundation (medium coverage at this point) had appeared to be slightly wearing off and my blemishes (post acne and new ones appearing) beneath were peeking through. Movement was noticeable around the areas close to the nostrils and parameters of the lip area.

9 hour update

The foundation looked (almost slightly in between sheer to light medium coverage) and I did not bother to blot off the excess shine as I went on to report the wear test on camera around 11pm. My natural shine was gleaming through and the foundation was intact on the skin till I decide to run a makeup remover wipe across my face after completing the video.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I am impressed on the foundation formula and wear on my medium complexion of yellow undertone. I would recommend that you try out Dark Diva Dolls if you are experiencing trouble finding a good match from the range of foundations offered at our sunny Singapore shores.

You might be able to find your right shade in their shade range offered. Do give this local brand, a try!

Follow us Around Hong Kong Disneyland | TheLeiaV

What's up Guys? I hope the summer holidays are treating you well!! We're back from our week long vacation in Hong Kong and I would like to share our vlog, where I bring you along with me to Hong Kong Disneyland.

We chose the Royal Plaza Hotel at 193 Prince Edward Road West, Kowloon Hong Kong as it is close by Mong Kok shopping area and Mongkok East train station. We picked up our MTR cards, bread and snacks from Yata Supermarket on the day of our arrival.

Our trip to Disneyland was on the third day, it was about a half-hour ride via the MTR to Sunny Bay Station. Here's our vlog, click the link below to watch. Make sure to watch it till the end for amazing fireworks!

Disneyland never fails to deliver, I say with assurance as it was my second time and I still felt butterflies catching sight of Mickey Mouse and I stole a kiss from him!!

We had lunch at the Starliner Diner before heading down to Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, a shooting-gallery as we fire lasers at the Evil Emperor Zurg in a thrilling space battle in Tomorrow Land.

The Iron Man Experience presented by AIA was a 3-D motion simulator, a new attraction in 2017. It was our Missy's first simulator and she enjoyed it! We skipped Hyperspace Mountain as we just had lunch and proceed to "Its a Small World", a water based dark ride in Fantasy Land.

We went on the Mad Hatter Tea Cups and caught side of Princess Sophia in the Fantasy Gardens. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was a cute and fun ride and our Lil Missy laughed out loud during her ride on the Cinderella Carousel. She also enjoyed the Dumbo the Flying Elephant.

In Toy Story Land, we skipped the RC Racer as Missy did not meet the age and height requirements. We did try the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop and Slinky Dog Spin. We made a pit stop for pictures in the Garden of Wonders

We traced back to Adventure Land to take the Jungle Cruise via Liki Tikis. That was our last stop as we head back to Main Street to grab hot dogs and waffles shaped like Mickey for dinner while waiting for the night parade to begin.

We enjoyed watching two parades, one in the afternoon, "Flights of Fantasy" at 3.30pm and the other "Disney Paint the Night" Night Time Spectacular at 8pm followed by the fireworks at 8.45pm. It was worth the short wait, it was truly Amazing!

Will I come back for more? Of course!! It's Disneyland, Silly!! Probably, by then Lil Missy will be older and tall enough for most rides:)

How to be Famous | Girlfriends' Guide Series | TheLeiaV

Hi, I'm Shanthi, a YouTuber and Blogger based in Singapore. I have a cool series called "The Girlfriends' Guide" series up on my YouTube Channel, TheLeiaV for year 2017. We have four episodes up already and we love hearing your positive feedback.

This series consists of twelve episodes, one for each month with a complementing blog post with free to download goodies, just for you!! It is primarily geared towards answering the topics of discussions often received in our inbox!

Today, we're touching base on a topic, another highly requested one so let's get cracking!! Many of us are curious about the secret formula to the "one step success" that we often hear about so often. Let me break it down for you and I promise only one or maybe two secrets to success. That is hard work and consistency.

Being a YouTuber for four years and a Blogger for over a year now, I've discovered hard work and being consistent go hand in hand.

Many have expressed their interests to be either a top YouTuber, Instagrammer, or a Celebrity with millions of followers. Who are your top picks, if I ask you to name three Famous People? I will name...

Images are from Google

Are these people famous or Successful? In my honest opinion, they are famous only because they are successful at what they love doing and giving their best. Were they an instant success? It is a clear NO.

These amazing women have worked crazy hard to be where they're at, probably took well over ten years till their break, at least ten years. Wow, that's a long long time. Something to think about, eh?

The point is that being famous and being successful can mean different to different people. If you feel that you're really cut out for being famous or successful then slow and steady coupled with hard work will be the path ahead of you. It's not about the length of time, you keep at it. It's about so much more and your willingness towards keeping at it. Okay, that's deep even for me.

Identify your Interest

For instance; if you think, you can out cook Gordon Ramsay. You probably should already be on the look out for cooking challenges, competitions and masterclass workshops locally and/or abroad.

Depending on your skill, you could consider a catering business out of your cooking interest and volunteer when you can at kitchens needing assistance.

Research on the trending and newer equipment in your industry, the benefits and purpose of it and refine your skills further. Perhaps, review a product maybe?

Experiment and cook up feasts for your family and friends.

Create innovative menus for specialty diets that caters to vegetarians, vegan, calorie restricted diets for fitness and medical requirements.

Keep up to date with your favorite celebrity chefs, stay up to date on their latest book release, cooking shows and interviews.

Remain hungry to learn more, do not stop! Devote yourself entirely to developing and refining your skills.

Staying connected

Look out for like minded communities and mentors possibly, who can help to keep you motivated and meet new people. Meeting new people always serves an opportunity to learning something new!

To be more specific, try to look out for how these people are attempting to fit in what they love doing.

If you're just starting out online, don't be in a rush to see your social media following pick-up. A small organic following is a great start as it fits a specific and concentrated audience.

What you have to be doing is to stay consistent; if you're creating content online ensure that you have timely content for viewers to come back to. Set aside a planner for this and start planning.

Loreal Rouge Maqiue Lipstick Review | TheLeiaV

Today's review is on the latest launch of Loreal Rouge Magique Lipsticks. Singapore is the first in Asia to have the complete line up of all twenty shades offered in this range and they were released earlier May, this year.

That's a whole lot of colours, indeed!! Hence, I was very excited to test the formulation and the wear of these lipsticks to review. The lipsticks are available at Watsons, Guardian and major departmental stores and are priced at SGD 19.90 each.

If you'd like to watch my review video, click here!!

The lipsticks in the Rouge Magique range has a bright metallic pink cap and a black matte bottom similar to the overall Loreal's standard lipstick bullets.

I picked up just three shades from the entire range as I felt that the shades from this new launch were somewhat quite close and similar to the lipsticks from Maybelline ColorSensational line.

The three that came home with me are;

  • Cashmere Delicat - A deep brown shade with orange and yellow undertones
  • Secret Date - A muted bright pink with purple, blue and pink undertones
  • Mauve Petal - A deeper purple with rich blue undertones

Out of the three, Cashmere Delicat is my least favorite as it brings out the sallowness in my skin and make my teeth appear yellow. This shade will best suit light to fairer complexions with pink and neutral undertones.

Secret Date is my favorite of the three, a pretty pink! This cheery shade can liven up an otherwise dull complexion and perfect for everyday and still within the neutral balance of lip colors for office wear. This is a quick favorite across many complexions, I can see why!!

Mauve Petal is my second favorite, this shade can be best paired with a strong feathery eyebrow while keeping the rest of the face minimal with this bold statement lip. This will look beautiful for light to medium complexions.

Overall, I am impressed with the glide of the formulation on my lips. The lipsticks are said to contain nourishing jojoba and canina oils with pure matte pigments and hydrating honey. When I had swatch some shades instore, the deeper bolder end of the shades left behind a soft satin finish on my arm. It's finish was not a flat powder matte that often ends up emphasizing fine lines on the lips and dehydrating the delicate skin on the lips after a few hours of wear time.

The lipsticks had a comfortable finish and feel on the lips, lightweight with two thin coats. The lip shades have easy color pay-off without much fuss, it does have movement though thus transferring easily. It leaves behind a gradual stain and fades off evenly and we probably could getaway with no need for touch-ups. A huge plus!!

The only two set backs to the Rouge Magique range are that the colors indicated on the bottom of the bullet did not reflect the true shades. While, the online swatch varied greatly from picture to picture and looked different in real life. Another is that the shades offered in this range does not cater to many complexions of different undertones.

The shade range may well suit very light to fairer complexions with neutral and pink undertones but there a few shades in the middle that may flatter many skin tones.

I give it 3 out of 5 lipsticks!!

YouTuber Mommy Tag | TheLeiaV

It's the Mothers' Day Weekend and I was tagged to attempt this cool tag consisting of ten questions. It's an amazing journey stepping into Motherhood, an emotional heck of a roller coaster too. You have got to experience it, sometime. Lol!!

YouTubers being Indian Mothers, how do we do it? It was a lot of fun recollecting memories:)

While the weekend was busy being filled with hand made bouquets, buffet brunch, luncheons and over crowded high tea hot spots. Me and my kiddy pretty much had the entire Sunday to ourselves, yes!! It was nice and cozy without the hustling and crowds. I even baked half a dozen of jumbo cupcakes because I didn't have enough cupcake casings for a whole dozen. Such is simplicity..
